What Is GHK-Cu?
GHK is a naturally occurring tripeptide — glycyl-L-histidyl-L-lysine (Gly-His-Lys). It was first isolated by Loren Pickart in 1973 as an activity in human albumin. GHK binds copper(II) with high affinity to form the complex known as GHK-Cu, and research indicates that most of GHK’s biological activity depends on this copper complex. GHK is present in human plasma, saliva, and urine; reported plasma levels decline with age (roughly 200 ng/mL near age 20 to about 80 ng/mL by age 60).
